A reminder to all LRHS students that the first full week back to school from winter break will be kicked off with a late arrival on Monday, January 6th. On the five Mondays that follow, there will also be late arrivals, excluding Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 20th, where there is no school. On late arrival days, the school day starts at 10:00 a.m. with shortened periods, at around 45-50 minutes each. For underclassmen who haven’t taken the class yet, the project was over a month long and involved each student selecting a career, buying a home and automobile, getting insurance, paying taxes, and many other aspects of adult life to make sure the junior class is ready to take on the world in just a few years.
The short field trip to Hannafords was to show their ability to budget for groceries and not break their wallet. They learned how to find deals and buy food in their price range, and after finishing their list they were allowed to buy some snacks for the ride home. -Julia On Thursday December 5, the chorus and band held their annual holiday concert. The chorus sang a wide range of pieces, most notably Stille Nacht (Silent Night) with a solo by Josepha Brehm. They had some other fun holiday pieces like Jingle Bell Rock, and Sleigh Ride. The band performed songs with Christmas and Hanukkah themes, and one that imitated a thunderstorm. Both groups sounded amazing, and the concert got everyone into the holiday spirit.
-Abby To some it may come as a confusion in regards to the suspicious lack of trash that is typically strewn along the side of Kansas Road. On October 24th, 2019, the LRHS ASTRA Club led by English teacher Carinne Fournier organized time to volunteer to pick up our community. Giving up precious class time and AB, these committed students walked from the high school to the middle school during second period, splitting into groups and walking an estimated 2.5 miles round trip down each direction of Kansas Road. Collecting copious amounts of coffee cups and fast food containers, as well as a few odd tires or old box TVs, these students made a visible difference on the health and cleanliness of Lake Region.

-Julia The LRHS drama club has been working tirelessly for the past month in preparation for their fall comedy production of Noises Off! With dress rehearsals just around the corner, the show is well on its way to becoming an event you won’t want to miss! The play is a show-within-a-show, offering the audience insight into the work and drama that usually occurs before a production.
Noises Off! is divided into three acts; the dress rehearsal, the opening of the performance, and the end of the performance that might fall apart at any minute. Walker Elseasser and Connor Perfetto are set to play Lloyd Dallas, the directors of the show who are also involved in a love triangle involving Brooke Ashton, played by Paige Goldstein and Collette Woodson, and Poppy Norton-Taylor, played by Josepha Brehm and Annie O’Connor. Between the love triangle and the sardine-loving housekeeper, Mrs. Clackett, performed by Morgan Cross and Shannon Ranger, there’s certainly a lot happening on stage that’s sure to have you laughing. The show will run from Thursday November 21st through Sunday November 24th. They will have three evening productions on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday starting at 7pm. There will be two additional matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. Tickers are $8 for students or seniors and $10 for adults. Come support the local drama club and cast of Noises Off! -Abby |
