It is about a young girl whose family slowly left, starting with her mother and ending with her father until she was all alone. She grew up in the marshlands and was a talented artist. The town hot-shot was found dead and she was the prime suspect because she was the outsider and he had been cheating on her. A thousand Nights, by E.K. Johnston “A Thousand Nights” by E.K Johnston is a fantasy fiction novel, this book is told in a charming poetic way which creates a romantic atmosphere while reading the book. It is about a girl who made the ultimate sacrifice to save the ones she loves by going with a prince who goes from town to town finding wives, none of them lasting for very long afterward. This girl was rewarded with magic. The prince was not of this world and could sense her magic, he knew she was not one of his kind, but also knew she was not completely human. This led to him keeping her alive because he was unable to kill her, and because of her power he wanted her to help him take over her world with him. The Alice Network, by Kate Quinn “The Alice Network” by Kate Quinn, is a book that deals with gender equality, in a story about two women, one a retired spy and the other a math whiz. It is a true story that takes place during WW1 in France. It is about these two women driving through war ridden Europe, trying to find their lost relative. This One Summer, by Mariko Tamaki “This One Summer”by Mariko Tamaki is a fictional, coming of age story. It is about two friends Rose and Windy, who go to a town called “Awago”, a small beach town. The Light We Cannot See, by Anthony Doerr “All The Light We Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr, is a historical fiction novel. It takes place during WWll in France and in Germany. It is about two characters Marie-Laure and Werner, it follows both of their lives, one being a Nazis and the other being a french blind teenage girl. It covers how this war affected each of these children, flipping back and forth through each of their lives, until the end when their stories meet up and become the same story. -Katie |
